The Black Child Development Institute – Ohio, an affiliate of the National Black Child Development Institute (NBCDI), was established in 2017 to improve and advance the quality of life of black and brown children and their families. BCDI-Ohio, is a trusted partner in delivering culturally relevant, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed resources that respond to the unique strengths and needs of Black children around issues including early childhood education, health, child welfare, literacy, and family engagement.

We engage in public discourse on local and state to amplify the strengths and needs of black and brown children and their families. Our guiding policy is that policy must respond to and be informed by the needs of black and brown children and families and also recognize the unique capacity of black and brown communities. BCDI Ohio’s staff and volunteers work throughout the State facilitating programming, advocating, and informing policy.

Job Summary

Immediate need for an Executive Administrative Assistant to support programming, membership, and policy consisting of a combination of small to moderate projects. The candidate will report directly to the Executive Director and is responsible for supporting the collection of data, coordination, reporting, and implementation of programs and policy initiatives of BCDI Ohio.

Responsibilities Include

• Provides high-level administrative support and assistance to the Executive Director, and other leadership staff
• Performs clerical and administrative tasks including drafting letters, memos, invoices, reports, and other documents for senior staff.
• Arranges travel and accommodations for executives.
• Schedules and attends meetings on behalf of executives, taking notes and recording minutes.
• Receives incoming communication or memos on behalf of senior staff, reviews contents, determines importance, and summarizes and/or distributes contents to appropriate staff.
• Performs office tasks including maintaining records, ordering supplies, and scheduling
• Performs additional duties as assigned by executives.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience

• High School degree or equivalent with at least 2-years of experience working in administration or project coordination; Associate Business Degree preferred
• Strong commitment to the mission of BCDI-Ohio and the design and implementation of initiatives and programs that advance the health and well-being of Black children and their families in Ohio;
• Strong event and project/program management skills;
• Strong written and verbal communication skills;
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple tasks with initiative;
• Demonstrated ability to work successfully with a diverse group of stakeholders.
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office products, Google docs, Facebook, Instagram, and other social media platforms and a quick ability to learn and adapt to new technology and software.

Physical Requirements

· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

This is a full-time position comprising approximately 40 hours per week, requiring some travel and the ability to work remotely, with some in-person and during some nights and weekends.
